St. Louis punk band Fight Back Mountain has dropped a new single, “Trouble & Havoc,” and it’s a punchy two-minute track packed with fierce energy. The song combines classic rock hooks and power-pop riffs, driven by the raspy delivery of vocalist and guitarist Adrian Barnello. With its intense sound, “Trouble & Havoc” paints the picture of a chaotic relationship where conflict is always around the corner, giving listeners a peek into the lives of two characters who constantly stir things up for each other.
To match the track’s wild spirit, Fight Back Mountain filmed the music video at Mauhaus Cat Cafe in Maplewood, Missouri. Surrounded by rescue cats (all looking for homes), the band adds a fun twist to the single’s release. The video’s playful setting balances the song’s stormy vibe, giving fans a look at Fight Back Mountain’s sense of humor alongside their gritty sound.
“Trouble & Havoc” is the latest product of the band’s sessions with longtime producer Gabe Usery at Encapsulated Studios. Usery has helped shape the sound of Fight Back Mountain’s previous releases, including their 2019 debut album Times Beach, Lavender Sky from 2021, and the Backslider EP in 2023. The single also stands out in the band’s catalog for its unique backstory: while most of Fight Back Mountain’s lyrics are penned by guitarist Anjelica Aquilino, Barnello took the lead this time. He says the track was inspired by his own two cats, who are constantly at odds with each other—hence the names Trouble and Havoc.
Fight Back Mountain stands out in the punk scene with their fierce blend of classic rock riffs, gritty punk energy, and catchy power-pop hooks. Their music captures the raw edge of punk while adding a melodic punch. As with past releases, Fight Back Mountain’s lineup is rounded out by bassist Andy Kohnen and drummer Devin Dessieux. With “Trouble & Havoc,” the band once again delivers a memorable blend of punk energy and melodic hooks that keep listeners coming back for more.
