Chris Simpson, known for his work with influential bands Mineral and The Gloria Record, has returned under his solo project Mountain Time with a new single titled "Payphone." The track is part of his latest album, Dream Homes, which is co-produced by Seth Woods and Alex Dupree. Dream Homes is set to be released on Friday, October 25, through Spartan Records. The album promises to blend rich ’70s balladry with expansive ambient rock, highlighting Simpson’s unmistakable vocal style and lyrical depth.

“Payphone” reflects the longing and frustration of being separated from someone and the difficulty of staying connected over great distances. According to Simpson, the song captures the magical essence of a certain kind of love that allows people to stay connected through their minds and imaginations, even when they can’t physically communicate. Fans can watch the music video for “Payphone” on Mountain Time’s official platforms.

Simpson’s long history in the indie-rock scene has seen him evolve from the emotional intensity of his early work with Mineral to the more atmospheric sounds of The Gloria Record. His solo work as Mountain Time continues to showcase his thoughtful songwriting and ability to explore complex emotional landscapes. Dream Homes is a continuation of that journey, offering a wide range of sounds that pull from both his earlier influences and his more recent experimental approaches.

Mountain Time will celebrate the release of Dream Homes with a special show at Hotel Vegas in Austin, Texas, on Saturday, October 26. Fans can expect a performance that captures the heartfelt and introspective nature of Simpson’s latest work.

Dream Homes will be available for download on Bandcamp and across all streaming platforms starting Friday, October 25 (today). With its rich instrumentation and poignant themes, the album promises to be an essential listen for fans of introspective indie rock and longtime followers of Simpson’s musical journey.
