Swedish punk band Bödel is set to release their new single, “Guidance Patrol,” on November 8, 2024, through DiSTAT Records. The song first appeared in summer 2024 on Grönpeppar Records’ Ursäkta röran vol.7 compilation, where it struck a nerve with listeners for its raw sound and message. “Guidance Patrol” addresses the tragic death of Jina Mahsa Amini, who died while in the custody of Iran’s morality police, infusing the band’s punk energy with a powerful story.
Bödel’s lineup includes members from renowned bands like The Crown, Deny, and The Liptones, making them a kind of Swedish punk supergroup. The band centers around 18-year-old vocalist Leya, whose fierce delivery and intense lyrics have quickly built her a reputation in the punk and hardcore scene. Drummer Masken connected with Leya and her father, guitarist Arvid, in late 2023 after hearing her perform in the band Chörnobyl. The chemistry clicked immediately, and by February 2024, they were writing and recording songs that captured the spirit of crust punk legends like Anti Cimex and Wolfbrigade. With Henke from Pastoratet on bass, Bödel’s fast, d-beat-driven sound was complete.
The band’s debut single, “Bilan Faller,” released in June, quickly caught fire, gaining radio airplay around the world and creating a buzz within the punk community. Their debut EP, Välkommen till avrättningen, came out in August and featured tracks like “Grisarna och snuten” and “På andras bekostnad,” songs that captured the gritty, urgent energy of Sweden’s hardcore scene. The EP received major attention, including from Sweden’s largest newspaper, Aftonbladet, and is still finding airplay on global radio stations and punk podcasts.
With Guidance Patrol, Bödel takes a stand, continuing their commitment to authentic, high-speed punk. Their approach is straightforward but powerful: no frills, just hard-hitting messages backed by a relentless beat. The band plans to keep their sound raw and intense, capturing the energy of punk while spinning it just a bit faster. As Bödel’s momentum grows, they’re poised to keep the spirit of Swedish hardcore alive and uncompromising.
