OMG I think I just found my new favorite band. Right now Wet Leg is tearing up the indie rock world but now meet the Australian punk version with rock riffs for days. This is a great introduction to this band from note one. It’s got a classic sound like The Go Go’s or even The Runaways but it definitely has modern influence like Courtney Barnett, and Wet Leg. The band has a great punk energy, at times the bpm feels so much more hyper than their peers, I'd say it's like The Linda Linda's but more mature songwriting. I feel like whenever in the past I have heard a band doing the whole Joan Jett meets Veruca Salt thing it gets old really quick but on this EP every track has a different feel and they are all total pop punk gems. The band isn’t quite as gritty as Bikini Kill or as indie as Sleeter Kinney but perhaps both are a slight influence on the bands sound. There is definitely an element of their sound that harkens back to bands like Elastica but with a vocalist that has all the grit of Joan Jett. The group vocals on “AHHHH!”, “Miss Your Birthday” and “Girl Sports” make this EP all the more fun. I love this EP and would immediately probably put all 5 songs on a playlist or for you older people they’d go number one on all my current mixtapes. This is the type of band that gets you pumped to see what they are going to do next. Every track is a banger!
