NJ Indie Rock band Fairmont returns with a fresh take on their latest video for “Boring Dumb Song,” a track from their upcoming album I Wish I Was Stupid, set for release on November 29, 2024. The video, a surreal blend of AI-generated visuals, is the result of a unique family project led by frontman Neil Sabatino and his two daughters, Enid and Ivy. Known for incorporating his family into Fairmont’s annual video projects, this time Sabatino handed creative control to his daughters, who used AI to bring their imaginations to life.

The video perfectly complements the song’s sardonic commentary on the absurdity of the music industry. "Boring Dumb Song" taps into themes of disillusionment, frustration, and the relentless pursuit of success in a flawed system. As Sabatino sings, “We can’t win, let’s burn it down and start again,” the visuals swirl through a landscape of bizarre, AI-generated imagery, matching the disjointed and surreal lyrical content.

Enid and Ivy took the assignment of creating outlandish prompts seriously, resulting in a mix of animals in absurd situations, senior citizens fighting over records, goth kids taking over, and other whimsical visuals. Their innovative contributions elevate the video, bringing a fresh and absurdist touch that mirrors the nihilistic yet hopeful tone of the track. This marks a new frontier for Fairmont, as the band ventures deeper into digital experimentation while staying true to their indie rock roots.

Fairmont, hailing from North Jersey, has a storied two-decade career and a DIY ethos that has seen them evolve from basement recordings to a staple on college radio. With influences ranging from The Smithereens to Mike Krol on this track, Fairmont continues to defy expectations, releasing some of their most compelling work two decades into their career.

Fans can catch the wild, unpredictable ride of “Boring Dumb Song” below, a fitting icing on the cake to the band’s enduring spirit and willingness to push creative boundaries.
