Seattle punk legends The Briefs are marking their 25th anniversary with a fresh burst of energy and activity. Known for their bleach-blonde hair, chaotic live shows, and sharp 1970s-inspired sound, the band has unveiled a new 7-inch record, High Society b/w You Move Me, set for release in November 2024 via TKO Records.
Recorded at Berlin’s Smail Shock Studio this summer, the new tracks promise to deliver the same fiery punk edge that has defined the band’s career. To the delight of longtime fans, The Briefs are also reissuing their debut single, Poor and Weird b/w Rotten Love, on vinyl for the first time in 25 years.
Adding to the excitement, the band has shaken up their lineup. Ian Ferocious has stepped in as drummer, replacing Chris Brief, while original bassist Lance Romance has rejoined, rounding out a lineup that includes vocalist/guitarist Steve E. Nix and guitarist Kicks.
The Briefs are as active as ever on stage, igniting crowds at iconic festivals like Punk Rock Bowling in Las Vegas and the Rebellion Festival in the UK. Their live performances remain an electrifying mix of humor, chaos, and blistering energy, continuing to attract fans of all ages.
The band first emerged in 2000 with their debut album, Hit After Hit, which smashed through the monotony of early 2000s alt-rock and reignited interest in old-school punk. Over the years, The Briefs have crafted five albums, including Sex Objects, Steal Yer Heart, and their most recent, Platinum Rats (2018).
Despite a brief mid-2000s hiatus, during which members pursued side projects like The Cute Lepers and Suspect Parts, The Briefs have stayed true to their punk roots. With their latest release, a European tour, and a reissue of their iconic first single, they’re proving that their brand of quirky, high-energy punk is as vital as ever.
The Briefs' UK winter tour will close out an exciting year, ensuring that their legacy of peroxide-fueled mayhem and catchy anti-hits remains alive and well.
