Cheekface’s new single “Flies” showcases their signature wit and quirky indie sound, with help from Jeff Rosenstock on baritone sax, as they reflect on the absurdities of modern life.

Cheekface, the quirky indie trio from Los Angeles, is back with a new track titled "Flies," released today. Known for their deadpan wit and catchy rhythms, the band adds a twist with guest musician Jeff Rosenstock on baritone sax. The song is a playful yet biting take on modern life's absurdities, staying true to the band’s unique style.

Greg Katz, Cheekface’s vocalist and guitarist, explains, "This song is about living the dream in a room full of flies." Katz and bassist Amanda Tannen wrote the track together in their practice space, and as Katz points out, some of the lyrics were inspired by literal events, including a room full of flies and his inability to land a kickflip.

Cheekface’s new song comes right after a busy year for the band. Their fourth album, It’s Sorted, dropped in January, and the band just wrapped up a successful headlining U.S. tour. Fans of the band, who call themselves "Cheek Freaks," won’t be shocked by their fast turnaround. Drummer Mark "Echo" Edwards continues to bring high-energy beats that drive the group’s infectious sound.

The release of “Flies” is paired with a video directed by Baby Ponyfood, who previously worked with the band on the video for "Life in a Bag." The visuals for "Flies" add another layer to the song’s quirky charm.

Cheekface’s previous album, Too Much To Ask (2022), made waves, landing on year-end lists and charts, and selling out shows across North America and the UK. As an independent band without a label or manager, Cheekface has built their success on their distinct sound and dedicated fanbase.

With "Flies," the band continues to explore their quirky take on modern life, keeping their sound fresh while staying true to their indie roots. Whether it’s with offbeat humor or catchy hooks, Cheekface proves once again that they can find meaning in the strange and mundane.
