Karma Gambit is a power pop band based out of Asbury Park, New Jersey that draws inspiration from bands like Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, and Oasis. The very blonde foursome said this of their music, that it "pins sharp character studies and wry humor against big guitars, immediate hooks, and layered harmonies." The band started out as the solo project of Jack Linden who later recruited another Asbury Park veteran of the indie scene, his brother Jeff Linden. Asbury Park is known for an eclectic mix of artists, on any given night you can hear folk, doom rock or metal, which is why it's interesting that these guys straight up look like a boy band and play a brand of very accessible Indie Rock. 

The band had this to say about the new single, "Cable Knit Sweater is a mostly autobiographical song about a highly turbulent on-and-off relationship I was in a few years ago. The lyrics of the song came first, specifically the line about looking like Machine Gun Kelly. After I got that lyric the rest of the song came tumbling out, and I wrote the rest of it a capella in my car while driving home. I'm a big fan of songs that tell stories with very specific details and references to pop culture and this song to me encapsulates what my songwriting and what Karma Gambit is about. It was a no-brainer to have this be the introduction to this era of the band."

Their new album ‘When Does Rock ’n’ Roll Start to Get Sad?’ slated for a fall release, the band says is "a stylistically varied collection of songs united by a commitment to a clever rhyme and catchy chorus". We got a sneak preview and it is a syrupy sweet hook laden epic from beginning to end. The first single from this collection of power pop gems, “Cable Knit Sweater”, is a perfect introduction to the bands quirky syrupy sweet brand of rock and you'll love how they squeeze in references to Harry Styles and Machine Gun Kelly.
