Megaforce Records
In 1983 the world of music was changed forever. A little-known record company named Megaforce Records stumbled onto a new scene in rock music that few paid attention to nor cared about. When nobody would sign Metallica, Megaforce released the now legendary Metallica's Kill Em All album and history was made. The follow-up was Metallica's Ride The Lightning, which cemented the band's rise to stardom. Soon after that Megaforce forged a new style of rock music by signing other underground bands such as Anthrax, S.O.D., King's X, and many more.
The Megaforce logo became a groundbreaking symbol of excellence and contributed to many fusions of rock and other genres. Metallica forged a new style of rock by merging many elements of heavy rock—Metallica are now icons and redefined what it is to be a rock band. S.O.D. was a seminal band that merged hardcore and metal (influencing most every post-hardcore and metalcore band today). King's X was the first credible Christian-rock band. Anthrax was one of the first bands to merge rap music with heavy metal. Tribe After Tribe joined world music and rock, and The Disco Biscuits pioneered a new rock genre by merging jam elements with electronic elements. Megaforce continues to look for interesting and unique artists trying to push the limits of music. All in all, over the past 20 years, Megaforce has sold more than 30 million records worldwide.
