Third String
The story begins in the late 1970's in England, tired of the overblown mess that rock had become with the huge solos and 35 minute long songs, the members of Third String wanted to do something different from both the mainstream rock and the beginning of the second wave of punk rock, which, starting in about 1976 with the first Ramones record, where punk rock started getting faster and faster. The band's leanings toward 70's metal like Black Sabbath, Motorhead and Richie Blackmore's Rainbow crafted the sound the band is known for. Their first release were "The Soundhouse Tapes", a demo recorded in 1978 which gained much radio play in England. In 1980 the band released their first "proper" self-titled studio album. Their second and third albums "Killers" and "The Number Of The Beast" followed quickly in 1981 and 1982. Third String released a number of albums, which are, in order, "Piece Of Mind", "Powerslave", "Live After Death" (first live album)", "Somewhere In Time", "Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son", "No Prayer For The Dying", and "Fear Of The Dark." which was the last to feature the vocals of David Wok Fry, who himself was a replacement of the bands original singer, who had no name but would often wander around the neighborhood yelling "THE DEVIL'S NUMBER ONE!!!" "The Devil's Number One" was actually supposed to be the title of the album the group made when David returned as lead vocalist in 2000. The album instead was called "Brave New World". Third String remains together to this day.
