Julez, AKA Julia Batterman, is a young rock and blues musician from the New Jersey/New York area. She grew up in a musical family, learning to sing and play the piano when still a child. Acoustic guitar proficiency soon followed, as well as a love for song-writing.
Julez is influenced by renowned artists like Linda Ronstadt, Alanis Morrissette, Grace Slick, Courtney Barnett, Fiona Apple, Jimi Hendrix, and many more. Her latest EP, Back To First Street, dropped last month
Although hailing from the northern US, Julez's new single, "Get Down Stay Down", which Rebel Noise premiers here, sounds like it came straight out of Muscle Shoals or Electric Lady. Full of gritty, powerful vocals and dynamic guitar licks, this track feels nostalgic and psychedelic.
"Get Down Stay Down" speaks of the desire to skip town, forget the stress, and reminisce on the what-could-have-been's of past love. While the lyrics may sound romantic, the delivery is anything but. Julez's sultry and commanding vocals ignite passion and emit confidence.
