The British punk act nods to Josh Homme’s Desert Sessions on gritty new collection

British punk/sludge metal act Hex Poseur has released a new live EP.

Sheriff Sessions is an evocative and unabashedly honest collection, featuring 5 candid tracks.

The release comes as the follow up to 2023 full-length, Stunning, which is out now, on Manic Kat Records.

Unpacking the new release, Hex Poseur shares: "Inspired by Josh Homme’s ‘Desert Sessions’ my new live EP ‘Sheriff Sessions’ is intended to capture the energy and emotion of every live performance. It is a collection of reworks, covers and songs which didn’t fit anywhere else which were recorded all in one room, giving it the most naturalistic feel."

Hex continues: "It encapsulates my musical journey over my career so far, being a blend of my traditional punk roots and the sludgy, stoner metal sound of my more recent work. This is EP contains tracks which a lot of fans have requested, and with artwork by Frank from hardcore punk friends’ Sex Germs, this is truly a love letter to the underground UK punk scene, blending both old school and new school styles."

Leicester, UK's Hex Poseur delivers a voracious and unerringly bold soundscape, bringing together influence from across garage rock, alternative and punk.

2022 EP Hearsay expressed a disillusionment with modern day politics and social disparity, inspired by the Riot Grrrl movement of the 90's. Musically, the collection nods to PJ Harvey, Queens of The Stone Age and The White Stripes, an immersive blend of grungy guitars, sharp lyricism and an engrossing vocal delivery.

Hex Poseur has continued to pick up momentum across the UK, with national tours and BBC Radio 1 airplay from Alyx Holcombe. Having signed to Manic Kat Records, Hex's profile has also been on the rise in North America, with press support from the likes of Loudwire, Punknews and New Noise Magazine bolstering international exposure of debut full-length, Stunning

With the release of The Sheriff Sessions, Hex Poseur has again brought her arrangement of influences to life with a resonating quintet of tracks. Heavier intonations, early punk nods and darker, grunge notes combine for a gripping and raw live EP.
