Jello Biafra has been busy in the twenty-odd years since leaving the Dead Kennedys. Plenty of spoken-word gigs, musical collaborations and touring have kept his political commentary sharp, and now his new band, the Guantanamo School Of Medicine, will make use of his barbed wit when it unleashes its debut album, The Audacity Of Hype. The album was produced by Biafra and engineered by hip-hop producer (and long time Biafra co-conspirator) Matt Kelley at Prairie Sun Recording in Cotati, California, and Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco. Biafra doesn't hold back as he explores topics like Iraqnophobia and lawlessness, class wars, hypocrisy and "family values." His uncompromising vision is backed by a powerhouse band, which includes Ralph Spight, Jon Weiss, Billy Gould and Kimo Ball. The Audacity Of Hype will be released October 20 via Alternative Tentacles, and Jello Biafra And The Guantanamo School Of Medicine will play a slot at this year's Voodoo Music Experience in New Orleans on Halloween.
