Australian quartet, Glass Towers, recently released their U.S. debut EP, Collarbone Jungle on Hub/Dine Alone Records.
Collarbone Jungle is the launching point for the four young lads from Sydney, leading into the release of their debut album, Halcyon Days, this summer. Halcyon Days was released in their native Australia late last year, garnering a tremendous response from national radio broadcaster, Triple J, debuting at #1 on the Australian Independent Records chart and recently being nominated by Rolling Stone Australia's Magazine Awards for "Best New Talent". With a sound that shimmers and builds to ecstatic heights, Glass Towers is set to bring an infectious warmth to our frigid winter shores.
Formed while still in high school, the songwriting on Collarbone Jungle deals with the universal struggles faced in the transition from youth to young adult-hood - mostly written by lead singer Ben Hannam when he was still in his teens. For a band who only recently arrived into their 20s, Glass Towers have already amassed a wealth of experience, touring relentlessly the past few years supporting acts such as Metric, Maximo Park, The Kooks, Dappled Cities, Neil Finn (Crowded House), performing at Splendour In The Grass festival, and internationally in Japan and the UK.
Glass Towers list of influences runs deep. From the literary genius of Jack Kerouac to the madcap mind of Syd Barrett and effortless cool of Lou Reed, from a childhood raised on a somewhat oddball mixture of Neil Diamond, Roxy Music and Simon & Garfunkel, to the paintings of J.M.W Turner and photographs of Robert Doisneau - all of which can be heard across Collarbone Jungle.
