The 88 might be named after a few things - the first rock and roll song, "Rocket 88" from Ike Turner, the MPH speed to go "Back To The Future", the number of counties in Los Angeles, and so on. However, they also happen to share the same number as NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. team as well.
Having had their music used in prior NASCAR events, The 88 have been selected to perform at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana on October 10, 2009 for a pre-race gig. And if you had interest in checking out the band in a slightly more intimate setting, The 88 will continue their residency at Spaceland (1717 Silverlake Blvd., Los Angeles) next Tuesday and each Tuesday throughout the month as well.
