Albuquerque outfit marry a cross section of influences for a moving collection doused in pop sensibility.

If there was any question as to the future of emo, Savings is here to dispel those concerns.

On their new EP, How Do You Feel?, The New Mexico crew marries spellbinding hooks with cathartic guitars over the course of five heartfelt tracks. Vibrancy and melancholy spar seamlessly as Sam Wilmot's intimate vocal delivery is splayed with a glistening pop sensibility.

Having originally seen inception as the solo project of vocalist Sam Wilmot, it was with Savings' convergence as a quartet for the release of 2023 debut EP, Get Well Soon., that lit a spark under the Albuquerque act.

The collection, nodding to the likes of Hot Mulligan and Free Throw, impressed with it's candour. Savings has resonated with fans through their frank and accessible tackling of topics including relationships, mental health and growing up.

Since then, the Duke City crew have scarcely left the tip of the emo set's collective tongue. Having sailed past 1 million Spotify streams in their first year as a full band, Savings have stayed visible with a string of regular short tours across the South and West Coast.

The new year has seen a string of single releases including June's "To Be Honest" and the EP title track, mental health focused, "How Do You Feel?". Indeed, the rest of the new album follows suit, with it's candor and accessibility.

Savings has evolved sonically since their debut last year. The introspective storytelling and honest delivery are still prevalent. The hooks are every bit as delicious and the tracks every bit as lyrically vulnerable, but Wilmot & co. have taken the shackles off, giving room to their myriad influences.

Subsequently, the pop-punk leanings of Get Well Soon have graduated, with honors, into an emo-tinted alternative rock soundscape. How Do You Feel? tips it's hat proudly to notes of shoegaze, indie and pop; Savings are coming of age, and they want you on the journey with them.
