With an impeccable, summer-ready blend of big hooks and infectious melodies, British Columbia pop-punks July Crowd have released their second song of the year.
"Happy Ever (Afterthought)" channels the best of the late-90s/early-00s iteration of the genre, while remaining unerringly at ease alongside their contemporary peers.
From working retail in Prince George, BC, Dom Walters, Niko Stivanakis, and Nic Faller's professional relationship quickly blossomed into a personal one. The three young men would find common ground jamming Goldfinger and blink-182 on old electric guitars and a cheap drum set. The July Crowd fuse was lit.
Debut EP Roses & Adderall showed their potential, but it was 2023 EP Seat of Your Pants that emerged as a shining beacon of the band's capabilities. The sophomore collection showcased a potent and thoroughly infectious soundscape, with driving guitars and soaring choruses underpinning the Canadian trio's output.
Following on from May anthem "Complicated", "Happy Ever (Afterthought)" is another moreish and potent string to July Crowd's bow, nodding to the likes of New Found Glory and The Story So Far with a track glazed with pop sensibility and sprinkled with thoughtful emo tones.
